Yahoo faced a massive attack on its servers in 2014, on which at least 500 million Yahoo accounts were compromised that appeared to be the world’s biggest known cyberattack so far.

The stolen data may have included Names, E-Mail addresses, telephone numbers, date of birth, and in some cases encrypted data. This is believed to be the largest data breach in history in terms of user accounts, this type of massive attack can’t be done by a group rather there is the possibility that another country could be behind the attack. Such a huge data bleach would go uninformed if the investors would not have pressured to publicly announce the data breach.

Moreover, during early August claims suggested that a hacker using the name “Peace” was trying to sell the personal information of Yahoo account users on the dark web. If you think that there’s no much information about you then that would be wrong the information that you might think have no use, which could have a great use for hackers.

According to a survey, 50% of users reuse passwords across multiple platforms. So, if a hacker gets your email and password, the possibility is he might get access to multiple platforms.

Hackers on the dark web are selling off the database in exchange for bitcoins. In the case of Yahoo data breach, more than 200 million user credentials are available for sale on dark web site The Real Deal for 3 bitcoins or roughly $18,000.

Currently; The Real Deal says, “Market under DDoS” whenever a user goes to the login screen on its site, which is only accessible through the Tor Browser.
