Xiaomi launches new AMAZFIT smartwatch

Xiaomi sub-brand Huami has just launched a new fitness-focused smartwatch in China called the AMAZFIT.

Specs-wise, the AMAZFIT includes the world’s first 28 nm GPS sensor along with a 200 mAh battery for a claimed five days’ uninterrupted use. There’s also IP67 certification, which means the gadget should be able to keep water, sweat, dust, and other such niceties at bay.

The AMAZFIT’s 1.34-inch, 300 x 300 display is a circular effort as can be seen in the images below. Under the hood sits a 1.2 GHz processor alongside a reasonable-for-a-smartwatch 512 MB of RAM. There’s also 4 gigs of internal storage space, while the aforementioned heart rate-sensing equipment is tucked away on the back of the dial.

The meat of the smartwatch is comprised of ceramic. So along with the resistance to dirt and water, it should also be quite difficult to scratch or otherwise damage. The band part, meanwhile, is removable, and the device can apparently be attached to any other 22-millimeter band.

Set to launch tomorrow in China for 799 Yuan ($120), it seems improbable that this device will make it to the U.S. or Europe.
