InFocus on run to expand their market share has launched M535 in Nepali Market. We have seen the massive entry of smartphone brands here but the real pain starts when we need to buy a phone that provides the maximum features at a price point. On this crowded market of phones, InFocus is quite established and launching phones aggressively, and luckily we got a review unit with 2GB of RAM there is also a higher-end model with 3GB RAM. For now, let’s get into the review and see how this device performs.
Built and Design
Built with metal InFocus M535 is the pleasure to hold and feels sturdy in hands, and I think it might only be the phone that comes with the metal build at this price tag. The look of the phone is quite simple and straight forward but eye catchy at the same time. It is thin at 6.99mm and fits quite easily on hands, though you need to use your both hands to touch all the corners of the device, single-handed use is not comfortable and you will find your fingers stretching a lot to reach the corners.
Talking about the device itself, On the back, top left corner you will find a rear camera module and a single LED flash, the InFocus logo sits on the upper mid part of the body. On the front, the bezels are normal in size and top left has a front-facing camera next to it is an earpiece and left corner has a series of sensors, Bottom chin has Capacitive buttons. On the top, it has 3.5mm headphone jack and a secondary noise-cancelling microphone. Bottom of the device has Speaker grill, micro USB port and primary microphone for taking calls.
Display
Featuring a 5.5-inch 720p display on the front and the viewing angles are good at normal but when you go to the extreme level a little desaturation is seen. The touchscreen is smooth and responsive but the screen is reflecting although sunlight visibility is quite good. Being IPS display and packing only 720p resolution with pixel density of 267ppi colors turns out dull and falls on the cooler side. All of this is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Performance
Performance part is handled by MediaTek Quad-Core MT6735 Processor clocked at 1.3Ghz max with Mali T70 MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Under our testing, InFocus M535 showed a few glitches sometimes otherwise it ran snappy. While performing simple daily tasks it ran smooth but while doing multi-tasking it showed some glitches on the transaction but it didn’t freeze. While playing resource-intensive games like Brothers in Arms 3, Asphalt 8 it struggled a lot and it was only playable on the lowest settings, But casual gaming like COC, COK, Candy Crush etc is playable smoothly.
While playing games phone tends to be warm but not to the extent that it becomes uncomfortable, heat is under control. The battery is the part that I felt to be a bit weak. I could only get a day of battery life on a single charge, I found myself searching for the charger on the end of the day.
Software
On the Software side, InFocus M535 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow topped with InLife UI out of the box. UI seems fresh and has an app drawer. On this device, the custom UI seems to be quite responsive than other models and feels like it was tuned for this device. When we first started the device we got 1.1GB of free RAM and 10.3GB usable space from 16GB, you can even expand the internal storage up to 64GB via a MicroSD card slot. The device is itself 2 years old and has just been launched in Nepal further software upgrades are not to be expected. InFocus M535 has sets of gestures built in like double-tap to wake etc. these features come handy and help a lot on day to day uses.
Camera
Camera Department is handled by 13Mp rare camera and 8Mp front facing camera, both of which are equipped with auto-focus. They produce good images under sunlight but tends to struggle under the low light situation. I feel like the phone was over sharpening the images for better results. Noise are clearly seen on the photos with low light but under properly lit conditions beautiful looking images came out. Though the images are average looking you can get click good looking selfies for social media like Facebook and Instagram.

Battery
The battery is the only part that I thought is left-out. The combination of battery with 720p screen resolution might sound good but indeed, I felt like the battery back up a little lesser. It might be caused by some software bugs, if it is then it can easily be solved through an OTA Update. The battery capacity is rated 2600mAh, if you are not the hardcore user then it easily can last a day long.
The Verdict
In case you are seeking out a phone with very premium looks below NRs 18,000 then I propose you to shop for this product now. there is no other smartphone in this price range which can come up with this kind of top class experience as this one. No one may even estimate the price of this smartphone just by looking at it or even taking it in his hand. But if you are a person that wants a very long battery life then this device is not for you.
