Microsoft’s new app lets Colorblind people see true colors

According to a study, nearly 8% of the total world’s population has a problem distinguishing colours, which means they cannot find colours as others do. To help colourblind people – Microsoft came out with a new app that can make it easier for anyone with colour blindness sees the true colours of the world.

Microsoft’s developer has created an app that will be assisting colourblind people to have the capacity to see what they generally can’t. Yes, the Windows designer firm has made another application called Color Binoculars. The application is absolutely committed to making life for colourblind Peoples brighter and lively. But, this app is initially created for IOS, and this can be made available for other OS later.

The application uses the phones’ camera to change the shades of subject and situations. “It is an app that helps colourblind people to distinguish colour combinations that they would normally have difficulty distinguishing,” says Tom Overton, program creator, on a Microsoft blog.

“An app that helps colorblind people distinguish color combinations that they would normally have trouble telling apart. For example, since I have difficulty distinguishing between red and green, our app makes reds brighter and greens darker so that the difference is more obvious. It replaces difficult color combinations, like red and green, with more easily distinguishable combinations, like pink and green.”

How colorblind people see colors.

This app us simple to use and doesn’t need any special accessories to be able to use the app. There are three modes in the app to counter three major types of colour blindness namely red/green, blue/yellow and green/red. The app also has an option to disable colour correction to view the difference and contrast between the pictures. This would give the person an idea about how a non-colourblind and a colourblind will view the picture.

I being colourblind find this app useful on some occasions but using it in everyone a while not, I’m used to it and don’t like using it often. But keep in mind that this app cannot help treat colour blindness or cut the severity of the issue but it can help people see things as they actually are and learn to distinguish between colours to some extent.
