On the early days, consumers were more then happy to see Xiaomi entering Nepali Market. As Xiaomi is widely known to provide exceptional phones on much lower price compared to competitors. It turned out to be different in Nepal, consumers were unhappy about the pricing done in Nepal because they were charged more compared to the international market.
The authorized distributor of Xiaomi phones in Nepal – Vatsal implex listed out a long list of reasons stating Why the phone is priced higher then other markets? Instead of higher price lot of people bought their phones and they were able to mark a strong grip in Nepali Market. Now, they have come up with the Xiaomi RedMi Note 4 which was recently launched in China and the pricing is ridiculously expensive at NRs. 32,999. The phone which was launched in China for ￥1199 ($180) which is approx NRs. 19,138 when converted to Nepali Rupees. The phone costs roughly Rs. 19,500 in China is priced at Rs. 33,000 in Nepal which is more by 13,000 in Nepal. We don’t know how do they set price in Nepal, What factors makes the price in Nepal go this high. There are other brands from china whose prices are similar compared to Nepal and China.
When we first heard of the price of RedMi Note 4 the excitement level fell down to 0, we were totally shocked hearing the price. The new RedMi Note 4 is the successor to the RedMi Note 3 and is supposed to replace it with the same pricing. It has gone the same way in China but the things are totally different in Nepal. Currently RedMi Note 3 is priced NRs. 27,999 in Nepal and the new Note 4 should have the same pricing. Looking at the pricing consumers has started to show their aggression by commenting on the distributors Facebook Page.

By saying all these things we are not against Mi Nepal, we are just unhappy about the pricing and want the officials to fix this.
