Xiaomi today on the launch event held in Peking University Gymnasium announced that they have come out with the update to the Mi Note series with Mi Note 2 as we mentioned it earlier. This is the first major updated of the Xiaomi’s premium Note series and Xiaomi’s official has launched the new phone at the right time.
By the Name of the device itself, we can tell that the phone sports a big display which is 5.7-inch FullHD OLED panel with curves on both the edges; it is actually a flexible display panel, not the optical illusion. It has a familiar design language which looks exactly like Samsung Galaxy Note 7, if this phone had a stylus, you’d easily confuse it with the Samsung’s Note 7.
Just like all the flagship, it has a 5.7-inch FullHD OLED display panel which is curved on both the edges. Mi Note 2 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC with the max clock speed of 2.35Ghz coupled with 128GB and LPDDR4 6GB RAM, and 64GB storage and LPDDR4 4GB RAM available as the options with UFS 2.0 storage, NFC, Quick Charge 3.0 and HD audio. This phone is marketed as a business flagship phone and the roaming is supported, LTE Cat 11, the top model has the support of 37 cellular bands of which 22 are LTE bands.
Xiaomi here dumping the dual camera concept has come up with higher resolution camera of 22.56-megapixel Sony IMX318 sensor with dual-tone flash. It doesn’t support OIS but EIS is available on 4K video recording. Front-facing is Sony’s IMX268 camera unit which has 8MP auto-focus camera. The phablet is powered by a hefty 4070 mAh battery pack, equipped with Quick Charge 3.0.
Talking about the pricing of the phone, it is priced a bit higher than the Xiaomi’s typical pricing which is because the manufacturing expenses has increased due to the complex design. The starting model has 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage which is priced at 2,799 yuan or about $413. And the other model has 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM priced at 3,299 yuan or about $490 and the same model with colour options of Piano Black and Glacier Silver is priced at 3499 yuan or about $516.
